A monthly budget on a Pakistani salary, from Rs 50,000 to Rs 150,000

Updated 10 October 2026

Quick answer: Take savings out first, cover fixed bills next, and give everything else a monthly limit per category. A common starting point is about 60% for needs, 10–20% for savings or a committee, and the rest for everything else. Adjust it after one honest month of tracking.

Start with one honest month

Most budgets fail because they are written before anyone knows where the money goes. Log every expense for one month first: chai, petrol, the electricity bill, the school van. The summary at the end of that month is your real budget. The plan below is only a starting point.

Example budgets

An example for a family in a big city. Rent and bills decide everything else, so change those first.

Three rules that make it work

Set it up in Tijaorii

  1. Add your salary as Income, tap ↻ Repeat and choose Every month, so it lands on salary day by itself.
  2. Do the same for fixed costs: rent, school fees, your committee instalment.
  3. Open your book’s settings, then Monthly budget, and give each category a limit.
  4. Log everything else as it happens: on the keypad, by voice (“petrol 3000”), or by scanning a receipt.
  5. Check the summary. Your budget shows how much is left or how far over you are, and your biggest categories are ranked at the top.

Questions

How much of my salary should I save?

A common rule of thumb is 10–20%. If that is not possible yet, start smaller and make it automatic. A regular committee instalment counts.

What if my income changes every month?

Budget on your lowest normal month and put anything above it straight into savings. Freelancers often keep a separate book for business income and costs.

Do I need to link my bank account?

No. Tijaorii never connects to a bank. You record entries yourself, and without an account they stay on your phone.

Is Tijaorii free?

Yes. No ads and no paid tier. It is on the App Store now, and Android is coming soon.
